How About Wednesday, at 9:53am?

The last Doctor visit went well, everything seems to be normal. She said that the circumcision decision (if it's a boy) shouldn't really be based on any medical reason and is primarily a personal decision. So I guess we've got to think about that.

One thing she did seemed kind of weird, let me know what you think. She gave us some dates to pick from for a scheduled induction. One was the given due date, one was 3 days after, and the others were 7 days before and 4 days before. She said she doesn't like to go too long because of potential complications. I didn't know we'd actually be trying to schedule this, I thought it would just happen.

It's a doctor thing. Some doctors want you to hold out as long as possible. Other doctors seems to want the kid out as soon as it's viable. Induction does sometimes increase your chances of having to have a C-section. I can personally say that I was one of those statistics. (However, I had high blood pressure so it was unsafe for the pregnancy to continue.)

The only complication I know of from going overdue is a big baby that can't get through the birth canal (again ending in a C-section). So she could end up in the OR either way. Just educate yourself as much as possible and do what feels right for you and your family.

Same goes for circumcision. We chose not to circumcise Gavin, so I can answer any questions you might have about caring for uncirc'd babies (easy as pie!). I've also got a lot of good information I found on the web here: karaokediva.blogdns.com/?p=201

Again, you have to educate yourself and then do what feels right for you and your family. To hell with anybody else!
